After the first AMA with Vladimir, do you want more?

Aug. 4, 2015

What does everyone think about doing another AMA next week? Maybe make it a weekly feature or something like that.

If you are interested I'd be happy to do the work of reaching out and seeing if we can get people to come on, but who would you like to hear from?

Perhaps there's someone who's already a member of managewp you'd like to learn more from?

I personally think it would be great to hear from someone like Jean-Baptise (WP-Rocket co founder - managewp.org/members/2873/jean-baptiste), or the WPBeaverBuilder team (fastline media - managewp.org/members/2552/fastline-media)

But who would you like to hear from?

P.S, just wanted to say again a big thanks to Vladimir for being in the "hot seat" this week!

I certainly found it useful, especially getting to look at the 2010 version of managewp vs 2015.

It made me think a lot about the work I'm putting into the product/service that I'm working on launching and how I'm being too much of a perfectionist/trying to cram every possible feature I want it to have and how I should scale back on some of that, release a v1.0 and then add those features over time.

I'd like to hear Adii ex WooThemes; Collis Ta'eed of Envato; and Jason Cohen of WPEngine

Thanks Ahmed, good to know you're interested! Is there anyone specifically you'd like to hear from?

I'd like to hear from some women :)

Mika Ipstenu (Plugin Review Team), Andrea Middleton (Automattician), Rachel Carden (WP in Higher Ed). Lots of great options!

Is Jen Mylo (Automattician) a member here?

Hi Neil,

It doesn't have to be a member on here, I just thought it would be easier to reach out if they where!

But if Jen's someone you'd like to hear from, I'll add her to the list I'm putting together.

Jen is someone I'd like to hear from, but also, as a major figure in encouraging participation of woman in the WordPress Community, she may be able to suggest others.

Sounds awesome!

No problems Lara, the AMA's are open to everyone! Is there anyone specifically you'd like to hear from?

Nick Haskins is retreating a bit from the WordPress space. Would be worth chatting with him soon.
Josh Pollock has his hands in almost everything cool going on right now.
JJJ is causing all kinds of ripples and waves lately.
Chris Wallace is about to release a new Website Building Platform on WordPress called FaithMade.

Those are some of my votes (besides the ladies I mentioned above).

Thanks Matt, for both these names and the ladies mentioned above.

I'm going to have to admit my ignorance and say I don't know who JJJ is. Is it jaco.by/ you're referring to?

Yes, that's him. John James Jacoby. Core developer behind BuddyPress, bbPress, GlotPress, Backpress and many other things.

Chris Lema and Tony Perez have my vote.

Thanks Nemanja, I had thought of Chris too!

And I'm guessing by Tony Perez you mean - twitter.com/perezbox

That's the one, sorry about not providing more context or a link :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, looks like a lot of really smart people we could all learn a thing or two from.

If you already knows someone recommended here, it'd be great if you could reach out and see if they'd be interested in doing an AMA.

If not, I'll make "first contact!!" with a few people in the next day or two. (Perhaps starting with Nick Haskins, as Matt Cromwell points out with the sale of Aesop Story Engine/Story.am he might be retreating from WordPress and would be cool to hear what he's learnt for those experiences and what he's got planned for o'life next!)
