I think that democratizing web hosting is definitely something that needs to happen. I think sysadmin in general needs to be democratized. That's why I really liked the DebOps project with Ansible. Maciej has been focused on building reusable components for configuration management. That's why I used it to build my WordPress server configuration project.

I've been spending a lot of time with Docker for the past month to build a local VM (coming soon!). I'm still not convinced of it in a production setting. I want it to work, but the technology is still in its early stages. A lot of issues were pointed out last summer in this excellent analysis:

I agree! BTW do check EasyEngine out, if something like that could be done with a Docker container.
